Symposium on Deming’s Analytic Papers
September 22, 2008
New York City
Description:
Present One of Deming’s Statistical Papers or Listen to Others Present Them.
Would you like to present one of Dr. Deming’s statistical papers at the Symposium on Deming’s Analytic Papers in NYC on Monday, 22nd September 2008? Dr. Deming wrote hundreds of statistical papers and articles. Some were on theory and methods, such as Probability as a Basis for Action and Some Contributions to Statistical Inference and Practice. Others were on cases he worked on, such as Trends in the Diagnosis of Schizophrenia, Mental Health and the Deaf, and On a Rational Relationship for Certain Costs of Handling Motor Freight. See one-paragraph descriptions of some of the papers at http://www.deming.edu/BA/BAFeature.cfm.
Although many people know Dr. Deming mainly for his work in management, he is better known in the statistical and legal communities for his analytic work, especially sampling theory and practice. He was known to handle 50 or more legal cases in a year. The W. Edwards Deming Institute, Fordham University, and The Deming Cooperative are co-sponsoring a one-day symposium that will focus only on his statistical work. To present a paper, e-mail orsini@fordham.edu or telephone 212-636-6219.
